AC/DC’s “PWR UP” stadium tour marks a monumental return to the stage for the legendary band, who have performed live across 17 cities and 10 countries in Europe since May 2024. As the 15th tour in AC/DC’s storied history and the third collaboration with Wonder Works, this tour required a stage design that could match the band’s iconic status and deliver the electrifying experience fans expect.
Once again Wonder Works joined the long-serving creative team, including Stufish, Woodroffe Bassett Design, and Dale “Opie” Skjerseth, to transform the ambitious “PWR UP” concept into a reality. Central to the design are the innovative video screens that track seamlessly across the stage, uniting to form one expansive display. This engineering feat allows the stage to evolve dynamically throughout the performance, creating a powerful visual narrative that draws the crowd in.
In addition to the video screens, the tour features distinctive lighting pods positioned above and to the sides of the stage, framed by LED tiles (ROE CB5 as used for the tracking screens). This integration of lighting and video not only amplifies the visual impact but also contributes to a clean, cohesive look that blends innovation with the band’s familiar style. The pods and LED surround work to frame iconic stage elements like the famous bell and cannons, providing a fresh, contemporary aesthetic that complements AC/DC’s distinct sound.
Jeremy Lloyd: “Our goal with the ‘PWR UP’ tour was to create a stage design that didn’t just support AC/DC’s legendary performance but actively enhanced it. The video screens were a key element, allowing us to create a seamless, dynamic visual experience that evolves throughout the show. Seeing those screens track and merge into one expansive display was a real highlight—it brought a level of drama and cohesion that truly matched the band’s energy.”
Through meticulous planning and expert execution, the team ensured that every technical element of the stage was flawlessly integrated, resulting in a design that lives up to the band’s legendary reputation.
