Adam Lockett

Technical Designer

Adam is a highly skilled Technical Designer with a strong background in engineering and a passion for the entertainment industry. 

After completing a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at Warwick University, Adam chose to combine his interest in theatre and entertainment with his engineering studies. This led him to work at TAIT as a Mechanical Design Engineer. During his six years there, Adam achieved several notable accomplishments; He was a significant part of the team that designed and built a large-scale robotic version of ‘Bumblebee’ from the ‘Transformers’ films, demonstrating his technical expertise and innovative thinking. He also played a key role in the design of a new 69-axis scenic flybar system for the Glyndebourne Opera House, including complex winch mount structures and rigging hardware.

With several years of experience in the entertainment industry, Adam possesses excellent practical skills and a solid theoretical understanding across various engineering disciplines. He is resourceful, with proven logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities, and is known for his ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. As a hands-on engineer, he thrives in practical environments and enjoys tackling complex challenges.

Adam’s journey led him to Wonder Works after attending a talk by co-director Jeremy on the production of Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour. Impressed by the company’s innovative approach to live entertainment, Adam was inspired to reach out to the team. He joined as Technical Designer in March 2023, and has worked on a variety of high profile projects proving an invaluable asset to the company.

In his spare time, Adam volunteers as a technician for amateur dramatics societies, utilising his skills and expertise to contribute to the community. He is also a guitarist in a function band for weddings and parties.
